Morgan Pressel earned over $8 million on the LPGA Tour during her 16-year golf career, but the Boca Raton resident is being honored for her efforts off the course.

The Christine E. Lynn Women’s Health and Wellness Institute Pro-Am presented by ADT will kick off the TimberTech Championship by honoring Pressel at its draw party on Oct. 29 at Broken Sound Club.

Even though Pressel was the youngest ever (18) to win an LPGA major when she captured the 2007 Kraft Nabisco Championship and the youngest player (12) to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open in 2001, she is not being honored for her golf.

Pressel is being honored because she shares the same passion for women’s health as Christine E. Lynn, who also will be honored that evening. After Pressel’s mother, Kathy Krickstein Pressel, died of breast cancer in 2003, Morgan started the Morgan Pressel Foundation, which has raised over $11 million for breast cancer research and patient care. In recent years, the Kathryn Krickstein Pressel Mammovan has been on-site at the TimberTech Championship.

“We wanted to honor Morgan for everything she has done in this community for women’s health,” said Terry Fedele, a former nurse and hospital executive who is the Women’s Day Pro-Am chairwoman. “The hospital always gives her credit and honors her, but this is a community event and I felt it was natural to honor her here.

“Morgan was very humbled and agreed to allow us to honor her,” Fedele said. “She will also be the moderator for our brunch on Monday.”

Pressel, 35, a 2008 graduate of St. Andrew’s School in Boca Raton, made a successful transition two years ago from being a player to a golf analyst for the Golf Channel and NBC Sports. She recently served as a vice captain on the U.S. Solheim Cup team.

The Women’s Pro-Am participants will have an opportunity to play Broken Sound’s respected Old Course with PGA TOUR Champions players on Oct. 30. The day starts with a brunch sponsored by Celebrity Cruises, a golf clinic hosted by Pressel, a gift package and afterward there is an awards ceremony with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

PGA TOUR Champions features professional golfers age 50 and up, including 35 members of the World Golf Hall of Fame.
