Brigitte's nerf was a much-needed change for the Overwatch landscape.
She has created a whole meta centered around her synergy with Reinhardt and can counter complete strategies simply by existing. She needed a nerf, and Blizzard has complied with their recent PTR nerf which makes Brigitte unable to stun through an opponents shield.
This is a welcome nerf, yet seems to be rushed and not particularly well thought through. It seems to be directly aimed at preventing the easy stun-shatter combos that appeared everywhere during the World Cup. This seems to be a knee-jerk reaction to that unintended interaction that has dominated organized play.
After seeing examples of Brigitte's shield bash being blocked by barriers on the PTR, it seems like a horrendously inconsistent and poorly implemented change. If shields can block a stun, then they should block the movement as well.... and the same should go for Doomfist's punch.

Brigitte is long due for another nerf. This is just not the way. Blizzard could change the entire system of barriers, preventing abilities from damaging them, but that doesn't sound like a good solution. So what can be done about Brigitte?
Brigitte simply gets too much value by existing. If she swings, she instantly gets a healing aura surrounding her that makes everyone less killable. On certain maps, if a dive hero such as Genji or Tracer sees a Brigitte, they will simply be ineffective. Brigitte creates a certain area of death around her that is impassable until her Shield Bash goes down.
So how should Blizzard fix this hero? This question has been asked since her release with no definitive answers. They could nerf her damage, her healing, or any aspect of her kit, but could risk making her useless at that point. The largest issue comes with her Shield Bash. It stuns for so long and is extremely easy to hit, so much so, it makes other crowd control abilities seem trivial. Blizzard could look to reduce the time that Shield Bash stuns for, or make it have a smaller range in Overwatch. However, as fun as it is to speculate, these changes are not in the game, whereas the inconsistent one is.
The PTR patch also included some Bastion buffs and other quality of life changes.
