Can You Play Split Screen in Modern Warfare?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's main draw is undeniably its competitive multiplayer. Despite this iteration's muted reception on launch, the Call of Duty series' focus on multiplayer has made it a staple of the current gaming landscape.
Unlike some competitors in the space, including perennial rival Halo, Modern Warfare does not allow players to play online multiplayer with a split screen teammate.
Players can play split screen in the cooperative multiplayer game mode Spec Ops. To activate it, one must connect a second controller to the system. When they enter the Spec Ops mission lobby with a second controller connected, the person using that controller must press either 'X' or 'A' to join the game, depending on which console is in use.
Joining the game will require that player to sign into an Activision account. If they don't have one, they'll be able to make one.
With the account created, players will be able to jump into the action.
