Carlos Colon Obituary, Death Cause – Firefighters were attempting to rescue a man who was believed to be a member of a local gang from the wreckage of his vehicle when they discovered a gun in the suspect’s possession. According to the authorities, the crash that took place in Waukegan resulted in the death of a 22-year-old male. Lillian Lewis, an assistant state’s attorney for Lake County, revealed in court that the female driver of one of the automobiles involved reported to authorities that Kevin Apaez, 29, of Waukegan, was the person who impacted her vehicle. Lillian Lewis is a member of the prosecution team for the case. The second car that was involved in the accident was driven by Apaez, who was also a passenger in that car.
A battalion chief with the Waukegan Fire Department came across a serious collision on Thursday evening at 9:03 p.m. in the area of the intersection of Grand Avenue and McAree Road in Waukegan. According to the radio traffic coming from the fire department, the chief reported that one of the trucks was on fire and asked for a large number of ambulances to be brought to the location as soon as possible.
A passenger from one of the vehicles was brought to the Advocate Condell Medical Centre in Libertyville, where they are receiving treatment for injuries that are considered to be life-threatening at this time. According to Steve Newton, the Chief Deputy Coroner for Lake County, the victim in question passed away a few hours later, early on Friday morning, while they were receiving treatment in the intensive care unit. Newton reported that the victim was a Waukegan resident named Carlos Colon, who is 22 years old. Colon is the only known witness to the incident.
