Changing Covenants in Shadowlands, while frowned upon by members, is possible with a little bit of work.

World of Warcraft's latest expansion, Shadowlands, allows players to join one of four Covenants within the realm of the dead. This decision is made near the beginning of the game, asking them to choose from the Night Fae, Venthyr, Necrolord, Kyrian. Covenants provide a variety of bonuses from armor to experience and everything in between.

However, as 2020 has shown us, everything can change over time.

If you were stranded on desert island and could only take one #Shadowlands pet with you, which one would it be and why?

Changing Covenants in Shadowlands

Changing Covenants is actually much simpler than players would think. It's essentially a two-click process that begins in The Enclave within Oribos. All they need to do is find and speak with the representative of the Covenant they wish to join. A few dialogue options later and violà—instant turncoat.

Players who join a different Covenant lose all bonuses, buffs, standing, and Renown. They effectively return to square one.

Changing back to a Covenant they previously joined is also possible. However, is a bit more of a headache. The Covenants don't take too kindly to "traitors" and consider the player's defection a betrayal. They'll need to earn the group's trust back before they get all their previous respect.

The player will have to complete two weekly quests—of which, one will only appear on the immediately following week. This primarily functions as a way to give players an "out" if they decide they don't want to leave their new home, after all.

The switch will only take effect in the reset after they complete both the "Prove Your Worth" and "Earn Our Trust" quest. These function identically. Typically, the weekly quests will be any variety of world events, rare slaying, treasure hunting, or dungeons.
