Miami and FAU’s men’s basketball teams fell in this week’s AP poll after dropping games last week, but the Hurricanes women’s team got good news, earning their first ranking this season.
Miami’s men’s team (7-2) dropped nine spots to No. 24 after suffering a 90-63 blowout loss to Colorado at the NABC Brooklyn Showcase on Sunday.
The Hurricanes return to Coral Gables to face La Salle on Saturday at noon.
The Owls (7-2) suffered a similar fate after losing to No. 16 Illinois at the Jimmy V Classic on Tuesday. FAU dropped four spots to No. 15. Florida Atlantic plays FIU at home on Wednesday before facing St. Bonaventure on the road on Saturday.
Miami’s women’s team also cracked the AP top 25 for the first time this season, earning the No. 24 spot. The Hurricanes, who are 8-0 to start the year, beat the New Jersey Institute of Technology and DePaul last week. They face Baylor (7-0) on Saturday.
The Hurricanes’ women’s team has not been ranked since Dec. 23, 2019.
