The two stations share studios in the basement of the KOIN Center skyscraper on Southwest Columbia Street in downtown Portland, while KOIN’s transmitter is located in the Sylvan-Highlands neighborhood of the city.
On October 15, 1953, Channel 6 started broadcasting as Portland’s first VHF television station. The station took on an affiliation with the CBS Television Network, to match the radio station.
