The Devotion nerf in Apex Legends was added in the Aug. 20 update. A true fan favorite has been taken down a notch in the new Season 6 Apex Legends Update 1.44. The energy ammo, armor piercing, high fire-rate devotion meets its maker, but did Respawn answer the call?

Devotion Nerf in Apex Legends Came Out During the Last Update
The developers at Respawn Entertainment have reduced the damage of the weapon. A shot to the body that was once seventeen has been reduced to sixteen. On top of that, try hitting your shots now with the increased recoil that they have added to the Devotion.
They also reduced the clip size back to its normal standard (36/40/44/48). To add to those, the developers have also limited the number of Devotions that now spawn on the ground for pick-up within the game and also completely took it out of supply drops.
For the balance and gameplay aspect of Apex Legends Season 6, the Devotion seems like the odd man out as far as weapons go so far. There is more maintenance excepted to be coming to the popular LMG in the future, so we will have to wait and see if there is any more changes then. Even though the Devotion may not be as powerful as it was previously, it does not seem like it will really cut down on people using the gun.
For players who have complained about the Devotion previously, Apex Legends latest patch seems a slap on the wrist, which now really brings the question, did Apex get it right?
