Fortnite map changes arrived on July 11 and they reemerged Risky Reels from the depths of the water. Chapter 2 Season 3 was hinted at for quite some time during the different release delays, and it was all based around water. After the launch event confirmed a massive water rehaul, parts of the map disappeared underwater or changed completely. One of those spots is Risky Reels.

When the season began, the zone was under water, but during each season, after certain map changes, they tend to regress as the season progresses. Usually toward a new goal and map change.

Fortnite Map Changes Bring Back Risky Reels

This isn't the only location to slightly change in the recent update. Rickety Rig islands have disappeared while Frenzy Farm has less water around as well. Expect more of the map to slowly reappear and then we'll eventually see the fabled Atlantis make an appearance.

Epic Games does a masterful job in crossover events, so Atlantis is sure to be a showstopper and bring new mechanics and items to the game, not just a new landing zone. And when you look at an above image of the location, it's pretty massive. We should have a fully realized city and zone when the event actually launches.
