Ultra Shiny Pokemon have entered Pokemon Sword and Shield. The new Ultra Shiny Pokemon which players have dubbed "square shinies." This name came from the diamond-like animation that appears when you encounter one of the bright Pokemon.

According to data miners it is a 1 in 16 chance for a shiny Pokemon to be an ultra shiny. Most players do not get an ultra shiny on most shiny encounters, however, here is everything you need to know to better your odds.

Ultra Shiny Pokemon: How to Find Shiny Squares

The odds of whether your encounter is an ultra shiny is dependent on what shiny method you are using. The standards odds of catching a shiny Pokemon is 1 in 4,096 but can be manipulated. The most common way to put a dent into those shiny odds is by chaining Pokemon to help better your chances. This method also increases your ultra shiny odds to 15 in 16. This means that your next shiny encounter is more likely to be an Ultra shiny than a normal one.

Please note this does not mean you have a 15 in 16 chance to encounter a shiny Pokemon.
