The il Lugano hotel in Fort Lauderdale has become a Residence Inn by Marriott.

As the new Residence Inn Fort Lauderdale Intracoastal, the hotel will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned and managed by Claremont Cos., according to a Residence Inn statement released Monday.

In August, the 105-suite hotel at 3333 NE 32nd Ave. was sold to Claremont Ft. Lauderdale Suites LLC for $21.6 million.
