Adding depth to its roster, Inter Miami CF signed U.S. National Team goalkeeper CJ dos Santos and Finnish attacker Robert Taylor to deals on Friday.
Inter Miami CF inked dos Santos to a three-year contract, with club options for 2025 and 2026. The club also signed Taylor to a two-year contract, with a club option for 2024.
Dos Santos comes to Miami after spending multiple seasons with Portuguese Primeira Liga side Benfica. He was featured in several youth and reserve levels and made his Benefica B debut in January 2021.
Before joining Benfica, he spent three seasons in the Philadelphia Union academy.
Dos Santos, a 21-year-old Philadelphia native, has been an active competitor for the U.S. National Team, playing for the U-17 and U-20 squads at the FIFA World Cups in 2017 and 2019.
“CJ is a gifted young goalkeeper with really good feet,” chief soccer officer and sporting director Chris Henderson said in a statement. “His distribution and reading of the game are very strong for a young keeper and we’re excited to bring him on board and help further his development. He’ll come in and add competition to a strong goalkeeper unit.”
Taylor will occupy an international roster slot, pending the receipt of his international transfer certificate and P-1 Visa.
Taylor, 27, has tallied 239 senior appearances at the club level, recording 55 goals and 33 assists.
Turning pro in 2013, he has played Finnish sides JJK Jyväskylä (2013-15) and Rovaniemen Palloseura (2016-17), English clubs Lincoln City Football Club (2011-13) and Boston Town Football Club (2013), Swedish team AIK Fotboll (2017-18), Tromso Idrettslag (2018-19) and Sportsklubben Brann (2020-2021) in the Norwegian first division.
Taylor, who can lineup as a winger and central midfielder, represented the Finnish National Team on its U-17, U-19, U-20 and U-21 clubs before making his debut on the senior team in January 2017.
