Song met Lee Byung-hun, best known from the G.I. Joe series, while they were filming the SBS television series All In (2003), in which Lee played the role of a professional gambler who fell deeply in love with dealer Min Su-yeon, played by Song. The film was a hit in South Korea and many other Asian countries for its captivating storyline that combined action and drama with a love triangle, as well as the chemistry between the main characters.

Much to fans’ excitement, Song and Lee later publicly announced that they were dating despite an 11-year age gap and Lee’s “bad boy” reputation. The couple broke up after little over a year in 2004.

In 2004, Song made waves when she co-starred in TV series Full House (2004) with singer and actor Jung Ji-hoon – better known by his stage name, Rain. Many have credited the series with helping propel the Korean Wave.

The adorable contrast of Rain’s tall frame against the petite actress’, as well as their cute on-screen relationship, fuelled fan rumours about the two dating. While it was certainly not her most successful film in terms of viewer ratings, Worlds Within (2008) lead to Song forming a close relationship with her co-star Hyun Bin of Crash Landing on You fame as they played on-screen lovebirds.

Hyun and Song publicly confirmed their relationship in 2009, but it unfortunately ended when Hyun enlisted in the army in 2011.
