Everyone of a certain age remembers The Lennon Sisters on TV, and childhood memories are fine with Kathy Lennon. Their audiences let them grow up.

“Sometimes people have a concept of Lawrence Welk and an accordion, but we’re sophisticated ladies and that’s a big difference,” Lennon said from their home in Branson, Mo., where they’ve been performing with the Osmond Brothers.

Christmas Eve will be the 60th anniversary of their first appearance on television in 1955.

“This was our whole anniversary year, and we’ll put together a video of special things to us,” she said.

Three Lennon Sisters are doing two shows as part of New Year’s Eve offerings at the Wick Theatre & Costume Museum in Boca Raton. They’ll stay in Boca for a matinee New Year’s Day and for two more performances on Saturday, Jan. 2.

The show will be essentially the same one they’re currently doing, with a salute to late singer Andy Williams in his Andy Williams Moon River Theatre in Branson.

“We have some Broadway; we talk about not being able to do songs from the ’60s, and we get to do them in our own concerts,” Lennon, 72, said. “We show videos and do our first hit, ‘Tonight You Belong to Me,'” among others.

Audience reaction to them is “amazing,” she said. “We go out in the lobby and sign autographs and take pictures. People have tears in their eyes and get choked up.”

“We’ve worked a lot in Florida,” Lennon added. The other sisters flying in are Mimi, singing with them for 17 years, and Janet, a grandmother of 12. They often work with three granddaughters in Branson.

“We were just talking about this to the Osmonds, and it’s our mission in life to be out there, and the people love us back,” she said. “We were honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and we have a very active fan club. A hundred of them are coming down to Florida.”

Already in Boca is ballroom dancer and choreographer Chelsie Hightower, known for her run on “Dancing with the Stars.” But this isn’t her first time in Boca. She was a judge in the 2011 George Snow Scholarship Fund’s knockoff Boca’s Ballroom Battle.

This time she’s dancing with Jonathan Roberts in a reality variety show called “Ballroom with a Twist-Mas” from Dec. 16 to 20 at The Wick. Three other dancers will move into the final leg of the run, Dec. 23 to 27.

She and Roberts will have four solos, she said.

“We’ve all danced together on and off for the past five years,” she added, describing the show as a “high-energy variety show. People will it enjoy it as much as we enjoy dancing.”

Former “American Idol” contestant and video performer Von Smith said most of the cast was rehearsing in Los Angeles, Calif.

“It plays on all the reality shows…giving people a chance to shine, and adding in Christmas cheer,” Smith said. “You’ll see ballroom dancing to salsa, [and] spinning on your head hip-hop.”

“Music wise, you’ll hear the Christmas classics you know, gospel moments, duets, Bing Crosby moments, ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ moments,” he added. “It’s a cool mix.”
