In December 1994, He was named by the network as the reporter and the sports producer. At the same time, He served as a weekend show host (then at 1220 AM) and an update anchor for WKNR Radio. After one year, at News Channel 5, Matt became the weekend sports anchor.
In November 1996, He became the weeknight 6 and 11 p.m. sports anchor and the station’s sports director. Matt held this role until 2000 and was promoted to the Indians’ broadcasting team to be a full-time member. Matt had previously done TV pregame shows as a side job for the team before 2000.
