The Merc Foregrip is an underbarrel attachment that assists in controlling recoil and increases hip-fire accuracy and in return, reduced aim walk speed and aim speed. However, it was found that the foregrip provides a secret buff that increases movement speed by 3.7%, and almost two months later, it has been reduced by a whole percent.
Here is what we know about the secret nerf.
This has been decades in the making, and everything is on the line.

The Merc Foregrip was already coined as overpowered as many Call of Duty Players found that its increased movement speed and hip-fire accuracy made it a must-use attachment. Add on the secret movement speed buff that was discovered n July, it was bound to be nerfed.
This secret nerf was revealed to have reduced the movement speed increase from 3.7% to 2.7% and while that may seem like an inconsequential reduction, it can make a big difference in quick trigger situations.
Originally the Ranger Foregrip was the second option which provided aim and recoil control at the cost of aim speed and movement speed. But now that the Merc Foregrip has been nerfed substantially, do not be surprised if in more situations you find that the Ranger Foregrip serves you better than the Merc Foregrip.
