Celebrate Black Teachers and Students
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Numbers can be scary for some students, however, not my kiddos. I was so shocked to see their eagerness when I informed them we are now entering into a new unit to learn about multiplication. They were all so excited and that made me even more excited to teach this math content.
The excitement my students showed me about learning multiplication, I want that excitement to continue throughout our multiplication curriculum.
During our daily math rotations, I love to include hands-on games where my students can learn while having fun at the same time. However, with limited multiplication games in the classroom, I am having a hard time keeping them engaged.
I asked my student's input on what games they would like in the classroom to be part of their math centers. I received various responses such as card games, and games they can work alone. Some of the games we selected such as Multiplication Swat require students to use mental math to quickly find the answer to a multiplication equation while competing with their peers. Another game they wish to have is the Logic Roots Monster Sock Factory Multiplication and Division Game. This game is perfect to introduce the concept of divsion to my students and learn the relationship between multiplication and division.
