Welcome to the Eat Beat Newsletter. I'm back from vacation, rested and stuffed from visiting too many old chomping grounds in Brooklyn. It is time for fruits, summer salads and lean grilled proteins, at least until my next review meal. National Ceviche Day is on Wednesday, June 28. Perfect. Then a long Fourth of July holiday weekend looms. Uh-oh.

(Get hooked on ceviche.)

Happy ceviche day: As National Ceviche Day approaches on June 28, a burning question looms: Is the Peruvian marinated raw fish dish pronounced seh-veesh or seh-vee-chay? It should be pronounced with three syllables, like this. To celebrate, regional ceviche chain SuVichewill offer $18 bottomless small ceviches at all four locations from 3 p.m. to close on Wednesday. And check out this photo gallery of local ceviche spots from my colleague Barbara Corbellini Duarte.

(Beach blanket binges.)

Beachfront restaurant gems: It's the time of year when sun, surf and sand beckon, and also time for a trip along the beach to find hidden dining treasures from colleague Rod Stafford Hagwood. The gallery has been updated with newcomer Park and Ocean at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park in Fort Lauderdale. Don't forget the sunscreen.

(A seafood meal fit for a Rockefeller.)

Mignonette Uptown delights: 'Tis also the season for seafood in all forms, including raw oysters, chilled lobster, crudos and caviar. There might be no finer and more relaxed place to enjoy these treats than Mignonette Uptown, subject of my latest review. It opened in January in a converted 1950s-style diner on Biscayne Boulevard in North Miami Beach. I awarded it a near-perfect 3 1/2 stars, deducting points for a late fish entree and slightly cramped booths. Score another winner in the growing restaurant collection of chef-owner Danny Serfer and business partner Ryan Roman, who also run Blue Collar and Mignonette Downtown in Miami.

(You want fried beans with that?)

Federal Highway, and the restaurant is hiring for all positions. (Baking with the stars.)

Precocious pastries: Taylor Moxey of Miami is a pastry chef who has shown off her skills with the likes of chef Bobby Flay, model Chrissy Teigen and NBA star Chris Bosh. She also has launched a library to encourage disadvantaged youngsters to read. She's 11. Colleague Johnny Diaz writes the feel-good story of Moxie, who also bakes a tasty red velvet cupcake.

(Lobster lovers in a pinch.)

Quote of the week: “Lobster rolls became the new cupcake.” — Susan Povich, of Red Hook Lobster Pound in New York, from an enlightening Washington Post feature about the steep rise in lobster prices as lobster rolls have become ubiquitous and worldwide demand for North American lobsters has surged.
