The death has occurred of Paul Gross, who was a professional magician and the founder of the Hocus Pocus Magic business. Paul Gross was born and raised in Fresno, California.
An announcement of his passing was made in a post on social media with the following message: “Dear Friends and Family of Paul Gross, Our dear husband and father, Paul, passed away recently, and it is with a heavy heart and a great deal of sadness that we share this news with you.
We know that Paul had such a significant influence on a great number of people, and his personality, which was larger than life, will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Paul Gross, who was born and raised in Fresno, California, was the person who established the Hocus Pocus Magic store, which was established in Fresno in 1976.
When Paul and his wife Betty opened the Hocus Pocus Magic Shop online in 1997, they were able to introduce magic to a much larger audience than they had previously envisaged. This was significantly more than they had anticipated.
However, the true beginning of this story occurred in October of 1960, when Paul Gross, who was only five years old at the time, watched the very first Magic Land of Allakazam program that was broadcast on television.
When Paul was a teenager, he began doing magic tricks professionally for clubs, schools, and any other site that was open to him. He had a fascination with magic tricks since he was a child.
At the age of twenty, Paul was out on the road conducting corporate events for one of the largest banks in the world.
He was traveling throughout the United States. In 1976, he opened the first Hocus Pocus Magic Shop, and in order to make it profitable, he needed to sell one hundred dollars every single day. He was successful in doing so.
Following the establishment of the Shop, Paul continued his professional performance career for several decades, during which time he advanced his close-up and stage magic skills.
Since Paul has personal experience with magic, he takes pleasure in engaging in conversations with working professionals, amateurs, and collectors concerning effects and illusions in the modern entertainment industry. Paul and his wife Betty launched the internet version of Hocus Pocus in the year 1997.
At his place of employment, Paul held a variety of events, including swap meets, magic club meetings, and lectures, as if he were already extremely busy.
When it comes to his gigantic dealer booths at magic conventions, he showed and marketed a wide variety of magic tricks, ranging from simple finger tricks to elaborate stage illusions. His booths were like a dream come true.
His heroes had used doves, silks, tubes, boxes, and flowers, and he admired all of these things that he had seen them use.
On occasion, he would put on a full-length performance, during which he would make use of the most advanced equipment that was created by well-known artists such as Abbott Magic, Norm Nielsen, Richard Hughes, Owen Magic Supreme, and others.
When he finished his show, he would always end it with his favorite illusion, which was called the Hindu Basket. In addition to being forthright and unafraid to express his viewpoints, Paul would occasionally do it in a manner that was loud and filled with profanity.
Nevertheless, a golden heart could be found hidden beneath his sometimes harsh persona. Every so often, he donated an incalculable number of books to the Magic Castle Library.
During the time that his hero and close friend, Mark Wilson, was in charge of the Castle’s Magic University, he generously donated props and equipment to the teaching establishment.
When Paul wasn’t in “business mode,” he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and gardening. He also appreciated having time to himself.
