Several people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after an airplane carrying 126 passengers and crew members from Santo Domingo caught fire Tuesday afternoon at the Miami International Airport, according to authorities.

Three to four people who were in the McDonnell Douglas MD-80 airplane were injured following the fire, which was reported at 5:39 p.m., said Chief Fire Officer John Arias of the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

The Red Air flight 203 landed at 5:30 p.m. when its landing gear collapsed, which caused the fire, said Greg Chin, communications director of the Miami-Dade Aviation Department.
