PUBG's parachute mechanics underwent a major overhaul in PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS Patch 24. Here's everything you need to know about the changes.
Though PUBG Corp has yet to push the new parachute mechanics from the public test server to live servers (it will come after the release of Vikendi, the snowmobile vehicle, the G36C assault rifle and the Vikendi Survivor Pass), several fundamentals of parachuting are about to change forever.
Rather than change fall speed by angling the camera, players will hold the Shift key to free fall at maximum speed. Free falling is also much more responsive to turning and maneuvers.
PUBG Parachute Mechanics: What's New?
The changes aren't just limited to free falling. Players can also use Shift to fall faster while parachuting, and can hold Left Control to fall more slowly over a longer distance. Additionally, players can cut their chutes early and chutes will cut automatically on any collision.
So How Should I Drop?
Thanks to experimentation by the PUBG community (mostly by influencer WackyJacky101) we know the best way to land first in PUBG after the changes. Rather than dropping early and weaving an "S" pattern in the air, the fastest way to land is to drop within 600 meters of the target landing spot and reach 200 kilometers per hours as soon as possible.
Travel the rest of the way to the landing spot at that speed. Then, around 100 meters from the location, begin to drop straight down. It's crucial to hit at least 231 kilometers per hour straight down to get an extra fast drop after the parachute pull.
Follow these tips and you'll always be the first on the ground.
