Red Dead Redemption 2 map size is emblematic of the game's direction. RDR2 is one of the most ambitious games ever created, and its massive map certainly fits that bill. It's the largest map developer Rockstar Games has ever made, and maybe the single largest map ever put in a video game. But how big is it exactly?
Red Dead Redemption 2 Map Size
The original Red Dead Redemption map spanned around 12 square miles, according to multiple online outlets. Grand Theft Auto V upped the ante, but Red Dead Redemption 2 dwarfs both. The game's environment reportedly sprawls about 29 square miles, more than twice as large as its predecessor in the series.
To get a sense of just how large that really means, Rooster Teeth producer Alanah Pearce attempted to ride from the northeast corner of the map all the way to its southwest corner. The journey took her nearly 13 minutes, and didn't account for an entire state she had yet to gain access to. In short, the world is massive.
