This is “Small Bites,” a South Florida Sun Sentinel feature with tiny tidbits on the food and beverage scene — because we know that sometimes you just don’t have room for a long article. You want a little news brief instead, an amuse bouche of information, if you will. Enjoy!

WHAT:

If you’re an al fresco foodie, then you gotta get to Taste of the Island.

This will be the 18th year for the Wilton Manors event, which will have local vendors serving up food and drink in an outdoor setting.

Taste of the Island is Wilton Manors’ premier food and wine festival that gives residents of the Island City an opportunity to taste bites from South Florida restaurants, while also giving visitors to the Island City a taste of Wilton Manors cuisine,” says Jameer Baptiste, event manager of HOTspots, a nonprofit LGBTQ+ media company and event producer organization.

As of press time, the list of participants included: Another Perfect Party, Black Rock Bar & Grill, Bolay Fresh Bold Kitchen, Brewlihan Mead Co., Captiva Spirits, Dolce Salato Pizza & Gelato, Funky Buddha Brewery, Funky Buddha Craft Food Counter & Kitchen, Gulf Stream Brewing Co., Huey Magoo’s Chicken Tenders, La Mexicana Taco Bar, Saravá Açaí Cafe, Sardi Cafe Lounge and Zona Fresca.

The Synergy Twins, a violin duo, will perform. And Baptiste adds there is something else new this year: “We’re excited to introduce the VIP Taste experience this year, a new concept in which VIP ticket-holders receive exclusive access to the festival grounds and the VIP indoor experience 30 minutes in advance from when the event opens to all other ticket-holders.”

WHEN:

The event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13. (Entry gate closes at 8 p.m.)

WHERE:

Head to Richardson Historic Park & Nature Preserve, 1937 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors.
