- Sabrina’s career began in 2011 when she worked as a Graphic Design Intern for Hypenotic. During the five months she worked there, Smelko helped create illustrations, blogged on the company’s social media platforms and created package and editorial designs.
- Once her internship ended, she joined TRAVIS magazine as a Graphic Designer.
- 9 months later, she left TRAVIS and joined The Hive as their Art Director.
- For the next 7 months, Sabrina generated content for the company’s ad campaigns and worked with their many clients including Jack Daniels, Coca Cola, Cadbury, Kraft, Redbull and OLG.
- In January of 2014, Smelko became the full-time Creative Director for Wild & Light and spent a little over a year leading the creative teams for a variety of lifestyle shorts, music videos and documentary features.
- During the same year, she also worked as an Illustration and Digital Media Teacher at her alma mater, Sheridan College.
- She worked mainly with 4th-year students who were building their Thesis and was a member of the school’s BAA Illustration Board.

- In September of 2014, she became the Editor and Writer for Design*Sponge.
- Less than 2 years into the job, she also became a TV Host for HGTV Canada.
- Smelko left Design*Sponge in early 2017 so she could focus on her job as a TV Host.
- She then went on to guest star on the Home To Win program in addition to co-hosting the Save My Reno show.
- Sabrina parted ways with HGTV Canada in 2018.
- Currently, Smelko is the Designer, Illustrator and Creative Director of Sabrina Smelko Studio Inc. as well as the owner of a hair, skin, and body brand called Heelr.
