Kaj Baker, 100/200, Somerset Academy freshman: Team captain finished second at the Class 3A state meet in the 100 (10:38) and 200 (20.89), both PRs; said his season highlight was breaking 21-seconds in the 200; also plays football.

Alejandro de Bastos, 1,600, Pembroke Pines Charter sophomore: Holds three school records in track (1,500m), and freshman and sophomore records in 1,600m; set personal mark of 4:20.15 at regional and placed 10th at state, after missed qualifying last year by one place; also, qualified for the state meet in cross country.

Amani Drayton, HJ, Boyd Anderson senior: Was the highest finisher from the region at the Class 4A state meet in the high jump (1.96 meters); only been competing in track for two years and finished eighth at state two years ago; plays basketball.

Josiah Gaynor, LJ, Piper junior: The two-time Junior Olympics national champion finished second at the Class 4A state meet with a personal-best jump of 7.18 meters; most proud of making the state championship after being off for two years.

Shamar Henry, 3,200, Flanagan junior: School record holder in the 3,200 meters (9:19.93) which was good enough for seventh place at Class 4A meet; also ran 4:24.39 in 1,600; most proud of winning the Florida Relays because that put his name out there; also, ran cross country.

Anthony Herrera, 800, St. Thomas Aquinas senior: FSU signee was Sun Sentinel 2022 Broward cross country runner of the year finished second in the 800 (1:51.82, a school record), and was part of the 4×800 relay that also finished second at state; part of school-record team (7:49.79); has also run a 4:24.49.

Christien Moreau, shot put/discus, American Heritage freshman: School-record holder in both shot (17.35m) and discus (45.90m); finished fourth at state in the shot put and 13th in discus; also played varsity football as a freshman.

Armani Norcius, javelin, Dillard senior: Finished seventh at Class 3A state meet; set school record in his first year of competing in the event with a 48.20m throw; attending Keiser University to play football; three-year starter at quarterback for Panthers.

Jason Olivera Jr., pole vault, St. Thomas senior: The High Point University commit is a two-time Indoor New Balance national champion; won Class 4A state title; Louie Bing record holder in the pole vault  (4.73) and javelin throw (38.08); was undefeated in the postseason and also won Bob Hayes, Fort Lauderdale City, and Elite 16 championships.

George Sterr, triple jump, Archbishop McCarthy junior: Only started jumping three months ago yet placed second in the triple jump with a school record in Class 3A state meet (14.39m); also, played basketball; added 1.87m (high jump) for 14th place at state; added 6.55m) long jump.

Kahneil Budham, 400H, St. Thomas Aquinas senior: Captured the 400H at district, regional and finished seventh at the state meet; has a personal best clocking of 54.26 in winning the Bob Hayes Invitational meet; didn’t compete at state meet last season.

Tristan Simmons, 110H/400H, Miramar senior: Holds the school record in the 400 hurdles (54.90), which he ran while winning the regional, and ran PR as he placed seventh in the 110H (14.40); was ninth in the 400H (55.79) at Class 4A state meet; season highlight was placing at state.
