Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
STEM is about science, technology, engineering and math. Gardening is the same. Using technology, I would love for my students to learn about how a garden grows and use the skills gained to open a market for their product. Not only will students see the botany in growing the plants, see the nutrition in their fresh product, and see how a simple pump (hydroponics) can increase production, students will be using math skills to learn economics in their garden. Using their produce they will make lip gloss to sell to the public, learning the rules of manufacturing and how to market their products. Using the hydroponics system students will see how you can have a garden indoors. Using hydroponics, your need for a fertilizer is necessary, however having different systems, which mixture can make the most product? Any inquiry through this indoor garden will be a great skill in the scientific method process.
