In 1964, Jackie Gleason moved his hit TV variety show from New York to the Miami Beach Auditorium on Washington Avenue. The theater was renamed The Jackie Gleason Theater for the Peforming Arts in 1987 and is now known as The Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater.
