Regan first appeared on British television in Series 5 (1992) of LWT’s London’s Burning, as Don, the love interest of Firefighter Kate Stevens (Samantha Beckinsale). The same year, he co-starred in the TV series A Touch of Frost as PC Shelby with Sir David Jason’s DI Jack Frost. Regan has performed in over 15 stage productions, notably as Achilles in Troilus and Cressida at the Edinburgh International Festival.
The festival presented director Peter Stein’s powerfully cast and visually spectacular performance in collaboration with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He is best recognized for his roles in the Ancient Greek films 300 (as the Captain), Troy (as Eudorus, Achilles’ second in command), and Clash of the Titans (as King Cepheus).
She was nominated for an Irish Best Actor award in 1999 for his co-starring role in the award-winning miniseries Eureka Street. In 2006-07, he appeared as Simon Adams, the father of Danny Trevannion’s (Stephen Tompkinson) stepchildren Olivia and Evan, in two episodes of Wild at Heart.
In 2012, Regan revealed his plan to co-found a theatre company with Judi Dench and other professional performers in Beverley, Yorkshire. He acted in films such as Outside Bet, Lockout, Snow White, and the Huntsman that year.
