Wendy Rieger is a veteran American TV anchor, reporter, and former radio host.

Personal Life, Parents and Family Details :

Rieger was born on April 18, 1956, in Norfolk, Virginia. Her mother was an English school teacher from Louisiana, and her father was a retired pilot from Ohio.
Wendy was eight years old when her parents divorced and went their separate ways.
In Sept 1993, Rieger got married to Sol Levine, who was working as a producer for CNN at the time. The two are now separated. Wendy has been together with her boyfriend Patrick, since 2016.
Wendy has been in the news business for more than three decades and celebrated her 30th anniversary in the industry with the NBC4 network in Washington in March 2018.

Early Life and Education :

Rieger moved to Washington when she was just 22.
She attended American University to study psychology but then dropped out and continued her studies in Broadcast journalism later in Sept 1978.
Her interests also lay in acting & she was part of many theater activities in high school. She also directed her senior class play, “Don’t Drink the Water.”

Career, Job, Salary and Net Worth :

Rieger used to work as a “Kelly Girl” after dropping out of school and also started to venture into the field of acting.
She started with the local radio FM99, where she did the news section on Saturday and Sunday morning. Though initially, she did it for the money, Wendy later fell in love with the industry & gave up her acting dreams.
She did her internship in WAMU (88.5FM) for their morning edition and then became a host for local editions when she was 26. She later anchored newscasts for NPR and WTOP Radio.
Her radio to television career move happened with CNN’s Washington Bureau.
In March 1988, Rieger joined the WRC News4 team as a General Assignment Reporter and began anchoring the weekend evening newscast in 1996. For over three decades, she continued to be a strong part of the network’s team. In December 2021, after 33 years at News4, Wendy has announced that she is retiring from the News4 station.
Besides anchoring, Wendy was also a solid reporter for many years. One of her most popular segments was “Going Green” on NBC, which then inspired a series on NBC Nightly News.
Wendy is a winner of three Emmy Awards, and one of them was for her special report shot in Vietnam on home video 20 years after war.
In April 2008, Washington magazine readers presented Rieger with one of its inaugural Green Awards in recognition of her dedication to preserving the environment through education.
